so it's official.  i'm going to grad school starting june 26th.  no more subbing, no more tutoring, no more messing around.  in a little bit over a year, i'm going to be a certified teacher!

valentine's day was a total bust.  and by total i mean absolute friggin total bust.  but that's ok! because despite it being the worst-planned, similar-to-the-feeling-you-get-when-you-step-in-dog-poo-then-fall-in-it-on-your-face day, we had some laughs!

ok ok, so it wasn't as bad as i'm making it out to be.

nevermind, i take that back.  it was pretty damn bad.

oh, and i'm in vancouver.  in case you don't know, which i'm sure you don't since i didn't tell many people about this, my grandma is in the hospital right now.  she suffered two strokes in the past months, had to be hospitalized for it, got pneumonia while in the hospital, was in and out of comas all month, and is now making a great recovery.  in my mom's words, she's a tough cookie.  so here's to a happy chinese new year, especially for her.

here's hoping she makes a quick recovery, although it's really not that likely.  but who knows, i don't really know what to believe anymore, she's dodged so many bullets!

i'm going to grad schooooool!  YAY!  as cliche as it sounds, i feel like a huge weight has lifted off my shoulders.  i'm going to get certified.  and i'm going to get my own classroom.  HOW COOL IS THAT?  i get to make every student i talk to fall in love with biology.  haha... yea right.  but i'll try my hardest.  i can not freaking wait!  now that i've been accepted into one program, i have some options open for next year.  HOORAH!  i feel like things are going relatively well right now, minus a few things.  family things and my laziness has caused me to lose touch with people.  luckily, i get to see some oz friends this weekend.  it's going to be funtastic!  if the weather gets less watery, that would be even better but i know i'm asking too much.

so... the question that i'm having trouble with now... should i finish my sf state application?  hmmm... decisions decisions

I'M ALIVE!!!  It's been quite a while.  I actually feel a bit strange writing in this thing again since it's been so long, but I do have a reason!  Yes, I've graduated, and what have I been doing?  Getting my teaching on in any way possible, which includes substituting and tutoring.  But basically, it's been tiring and not so exciting.  If you'd like to hear some good stories about my substituting experiences thus far, please give me a holler.  Actually, that's the reason why I decided to write again.  One of the students in the class that I was subbing for at Woodside stole my cell phone!  So please give me a ring or send me an e-mail so that I can get in touch with you again, and so that I can tell you the whole story of how this happened.  It will blow your mind.  No, it won't.  It's actually a pretty lame story that ends with me being tricked by the dooshiest doosh (spelling?) to work at Cingular.  But I've been feeling a bit out of touch with everyone and if anyone still reads this thing, I'm sorry for not keeping in touch very well...

On another note, I can't wait to finish up with these grad school apps because they are killing me!  I never thought I'd have to write another personal statement or kiss up to so many people to get recommendations.  Hopefully I'll get in somewhere good.  Good being something that will fit my parent's wishes pretty much.  I would have been just fine going to either SF State or Cal State East Bay and finish up in a year, but I know I should try for something better.  I really don't know what I can do to make myself sound better on paper.  Right now I'm looking pretty mediocre in my eyes.  No awards, no impressive work experience (unless you consider disciplining kids all day something that's impressive...), no nothing pretty much.  I DO have pretty good taste when it comes to food though.  If only that were one of the qualifications for getting into grad school... Once applications are done, it will be out of my hands and I will go get some gelato to celebrate!
